Thank you to everyone who came to the Founding Meeting of the HYGA on Friday 27 September (kindly hosted by Wivenhoe Sailing Club), and congrats to Hayley from Wivenhoe Corsairs Community Rowing Club whose logo won the logo design competition.

As a reminder, our aims are to:

1. Promote, and support the building and use of Harker’s Yard Gigs and stimulate healthy competition between Communities and Clubs by means of races, regattas or other local or regional competitive events, and arrange social and training opportunities.

2. Promote Coastal Rowing as a healthy activity, which can be done safely by people of all ages at a level suited to their competence, experience and state of fitness, and which in addition provides unique opportunities to be close to nature and to coastal wildlife.

3. Provide all of our services in a way that is open, fair, safe and accessible to as many people as possible.

4. Encourage our members to adopt and apply best practice in Health and Safety, Safety at Sea and safeguarding, and to take personal responsibility for their application.
