Addition to the Rules of Racing - "Scoring"

2 Oct 2021 by Daniel

Please note that the HYGA Rules of Racing have been updated to include a new section on “Scoring”. The new section reads:

8. Scoring

8.1 A low-point scoring will be used where each gig receives the same number of points as they finish in the race, so that the first boat to cross the finish line gets one point, the second two points and so on. Gigs that do not start, finish, retire or are disqualified are scored one more point than the total entrants of a series.

8.2 At the end of a series, a single discard equal to the highest scoring round where a gig competed in all three classes will be applied, with these points deducted from the overall results. This will then determine the series and class results.

8.3 Where extenuating circumstances may have resulted in a gig’s non-attendance at a round, a club may appeal to the HYGA committee for redress no later than 3 days after their non-attendance and if granted, following a review of submitted evidence and vote of the committee, its maximum points for missing the round will be counted for the single discard instead of the highest scoring round attended.
