Hi Harkers Yard Gigs,
Great to see that some of your clubs are now able to get back on the water. I hope it all goes well. It has been a long wait for us in Scotland, but we got the go ahead from Monday. All we need now is the weather.
Normal competition is not yet starting again. For our Castle to Crane race this year, we are trying to put on an event that everyone can simply do in their home waters, but still feel part of something communal. It would be wonderful if Harkers Yard Gigs could join us for Castle to Crane: Five Miles from home. You set your own out and back course, and record on an app how long it takes you to row 5 miles. Submit that time, and we will compile results. Many clubs will not yet want to be going flat out and that is entirely fine! The principal prize is taking part and being part of the fixed seat community worldwide (we have entries so far from Australia, Spain, Netherlands, England, Scotland). Our actual prize is the Median Trophy….. where we award average performance by recognising the crew that comes in the exact middle of the fleet!
We would much appreciate it if you could promote this five mile time to all your clubs, and share across your social media. Please do join us. Entry through the link below. Entry is free.
