Hello!

As organisers of the 2023 Head of the Ouse race for fixed-seat rowing boats, we’re excited to invite your club to take part in this year’s edition of the event on Saturday 14th October.

The event takes place on the River Ouse in Sussex, with a seven mile race course that takes crews through the beautiful South Downs from the busy port of Newhaven to the county town of Lewes and back.

More photos and information are available on our website: https://headoftheouse.univer.se/

The event consists of two races. The first, setting off from Newhaven at 11am, is for women’s crews. The second, setting off from Lewes at 1:30pm, is an open event for men’s and mixed crews.

Entries will open on Friday 30th June and places are limited to a maximum of two boats per club. Please note that boats can only be launched at Newhaven marina so you’ll need to field crews for both races.

We expect the available spots to be taken quickly — to secure your club’s participation in the event you’ll need to complete the entry form which will be available on our website on 30th June and pay the entrance fee via bank transfer.

Once we’ve received your entry form and entrance fee we will confirm your place(s) by email. If the event is over-subscribed entrance fees will be returned to clubs which did not secure a spot.

The entrance fee is £50 per boat.

If you have any questions ahead of entries going live on Friday 30th June please get in touch.

We look forward to seeing you on the Ouse in October!
